First Ascent of the Troll Wall in Norway

The 5,000 foot "Vertical Mile" Troll Wall in Norway is Europe's highest and steepest mountain face. In 1965, John Amatt and two companions made the first ever climb of this wall - an ascent which the "experts" had deemed impossible. A stone dropped from the summit touches nothing until it reaches the valley floor a mile below.
